Storing my tiles / Guardando meus Tiles

Resolvi confeccionar um album para guardar os meus Tiles de Zentangle. Fiz as páginas internas com papel color plus preto 180g, costura Coptic e capa dura forada com papel especial para encadernação que imita couro. Dentro, prendi os quadradinhos de papel com cantoneiras de fotos. Achei que ficou ótimo!

I decided to create a album to keep my ZT tiles. I used black color plus 180g paper, Coptic stitch and covered a thick cardstock with a fake leather special papel for bookbinding. To hold the tiles I used photo corners. I think it is great!

Long time away from here!Some personal problems to be solved..
I hope I can return to my tangling soon, as well as update the Mosaic with a lot of new tangles that were released these past weeks. I´ll let you with my last drawings that I made to frame and hand in my place. The large one ( the wave) will be a three part piece, so it is still a work in progress (WIP).

But I keep working in the booklet here... I´ve just released the first update page with more 54 tangle patterns to try! If you bought the full version of the booklet you already received the PDF file by email (please look at your spam folder if you can´t find my email, I´m sure I´ve sent it to every booklet buyer!). If you have any trouble finding this email, write me and ask for the file again, okay? (mafe.mavromati@gmail.com)
All you have to do is to print, cut the stripes and glue them at the last page of your booklet! Now you have 216 tangles to play with! Happy tangling!!!

Depois de alguns dias de pesquisa sobre direitos autorais no Zentangle, recebi hoje a resposta definitiva sobre a minha pergunta: Posso ou não posso vender o livreto? Rick e Maria, fundadores do Zentangle me responderam e autorizaram a comercialização do livreto de bolso, mesmo porque já estou confirmada como futura CZT!
Então é o seguinte: Coloquei a disposição duas versões. Uma Demo - Que contém 54 padrões e é gratuita para baixar e outra Completa que contém mais de 200 padrões e que pode ser baixada e montada por você. O custo do livreto é de US$12.00 (dolares). A boa notícia é que quem comprar a versão completa terá direito a baixar gratuitamente as páginas subsequentes que serão lançadas em breve com mais padrões. Estas informações estão na página sobre o livreto aqui. Lá está também o botão para efetuar a compra. O pagamento pode ser feito com cartão de crédito através do Paypal.

After some days researching about copyright issues in Zentangle, today I got the final answer about my doubt (Can I sell the Booklet?). Rick and Maria answered my email giving me the authorization do sell it, even because I´m already registered to October Seminar (It´s all SET!, YAY!) and I´ll be a CZT soon!
So, let me explain the things: Now there are two versions of the Booklet: 1) The Demo Version, that you can download for free and get 54 patters; 2)The Full Version - That you can download too and assemble yourself following the instructions. The Cost fot the Booklet is US$12.00. The good news is that if you buy the full version you can download the future update pages for free and add them to your collection.This info can be found at the Booklet´s page. There you can find the BUY button too. I accept Paypal . After the buy you will receive an email with the files and more info about your purchase.

Comparano linhas e lápis / Comparing lines and pencils.

Estudo para testar o efeito de cada numero de caneta Micron que mais uso. (0.8 / 0.5 / 0.1 / 0.005).
Abaixo testei o tom e textura dos lápis 6B / 4B / 2B / B.
Os meus preferidos são:
- 0.5 para a maior parte dos padrões.
- 0.1 para detalhes menores.
- 0.8 para preencher áreas grandes.
- Lápis 6B para o sombreado.

Testing the Different Micron Pen numbers. (0.8 / 0.5 / 0.1 / 0.005) as well as pencil´s 6B / 4B / 2B / B textures and tones.
My favorites are:
- 0.5 for making the majority of tangles.
- 0.1 for smaller details.
- 0.8 for blacking large areas .
- 6B pencil for shading.

Ontem comprei finalmente um esfuminho para ajudar no sombreado. Sempre achei que daria o mesmo efeito que o dedo, mas não é que o bicho faz a maior diferença? ADOREI! Comprei o numero 2 para testar, agora que sei que vale a pena irei comprar o numero 1 para usar em detalhes menores. Dedos sujos nunca mais!!!

Yesterday I finally bought a Esfuminho (I don´t know how it is called in english, please if someone know, just write in the comments =D). It´s a drawing tool for shading. (the one besides the pencil at the pictures above). I always thought that it was useless comparing to my fingers.. But I was totally wrong! It makes a BIG difference! I bought the n.2, now I´m thinking of buying the n.1 too for smaller details. Dirty fingers never more!!!

For now I think I´ll be the first one from South America to be a CZT, isn´t it exciting?

Hi guys, I´m so excited with all the emails and comments I received about the booklet!
So I decided to share with you all the files to download and a video with the tutorial. I´m working on it right now and I think it will be available soon.

Some people asked if I could sell some copies of the booklet and I was wondering if I could and should do that... Since all the drawings were done by me, I thought that wouldn´t have any copyright problem (Please correct me if I am wrong), but as all the little squares has the name of the tangle, and those names were given by each autor, I think it could bring me some trouble or disagreements and I REALLY DON´T WANT TO MAKING ENEMIES HERE!!! So I decided to share my work with you for free, and even though I had a LOT of work drawing and creating the booklet I think I´ll gain more friends doing that, and friends are MUCH BETTER than Money! To fix this FRIENDxMONEY possible problem I decided to create a Donation Button. So feel free to add some funds to my project if you like and use the Mosaic and the Booklet. I would appreciate a LOT your support and for sure it will help me with my work of colleting this pretty little squares.

As soon as I can I will post the tutorial video and the download links for the pages, okay?

The Pocket Booklet! / Livreto de bolso

Today I decided to transform The Great Mosaic of Tangle Patterns into something more portable, so I can have it always around even thought I´m away from my computer. I created this little booklet with all the 162 tangles that are in this moment in the Mosaic. My idea is to add more and more pages as I learn and draw more tangle patterns. I have just to attach the extra pages in the last page and keep doing this as my collection grows. I feel like a child collecting stamps!!!
As you can see in the video below the booklet can be opened in a long string so I can take a look at all tangles in the same time and compare them. I´m so excited with the result that I decide to share it here.

What do you think about it?

PS: OOOOPS!!!While working in the mosaic I found this very similar tangle pattern posted by JO IN NZ some time ago. I think one difference is that SPINROSE is made with just one single line (without taking the pen of the paper). One more reason to keep working on the mosaic. Now is easy to know if someone already posted something similar before. Sorry JO! =D

Here are some books that I love and will be source of inspiration for a long time, for sure!

O primeiro livro, DACORMAGENTA de RÊ FERNANDES (Editora Synergia) é sobre teoria da cor, assunto que quero estudar há muito tempo e aos poucos de forma autodidata irei dominando. Bem simples de ler, traz muita informação legal e já me incentivou a comprar outros mais aprofundados sobre o assunto.

O segundo A GRAMÁTICA DO ORNAMENTO é um livro secular publicado pela primeira vez no ano de 1856 por OWEN JONES. Esta edição publicada pela editora Senac além de atualizada (óbvio, rs!) tem a vantagem de ter sido feita num tamanho pequeno, bem portátil! As fotos mostram detalhes do livro que tem tanta coisa que até cansa!

Criei uma página aí em cima com as dicas de livros.
Assim que aumentar a minha biblioteca irei postando as novidades!

These are some books that a recently buy here in Brazil. The first one is about Color Theory and the second one has a huge index of patterns first published in 1856 by Owen Jones. It can be found in many languages, I think. You can find a little bit about the books I recommend here.

Estou de volta após 12 longos dias com minha bebê no hospital! Dias de sufoco estes, viu? Por isso não consegui vir aqui e postar como queria, mas pelo menos tive tempo para desenhar um monte de padrões para o Mosaico além de conseguir fazer uns Zentangles enquanto a pequena dormia.
Aos poucos essa semana irei atualizando com novos posts!

I´m back after spendind 12 long days in the hospital with my baby! Though days! That´s why I didn´t came here with new posts. Acho que dá um efeito legal, principalmente se fizermos detalhes em branco.
Usei canetas em gel para isso. Gostou?

I´m always using Kraft paper in my projects.
I think it gives a cool effect, particularly if you use white details.

A medida que vou aumentando minha coleção de padrões vou me esquecendo dos mais antigos na hora de desenhar os meus Zentangles. Resolvi imprimir folhas recheadas de padrões para ter a mão e poder explorar ao máximo cada um deles. Esta é a primeira folha. Cabem 70 padrões em cada. Preciso colecionar mais para imprimir a segunda...

As my collection of tangle patterns grow, I always forget about the older ones when I sit down to tangle. So, I decided to print a sheet full of tangle patterns from the Mosaic so I can have them around when I play. This is the first sheet. It has 70 tangle patterns. Need to collect more to print the second sheet!!!

VISIT THE GREAT MOSAIC OF TANGLE PATTERNS

As a lover of tangles and patterns, I decided to start a collection of all tangles already published and display it all in the same page, so it can be used as an index os patterns as well as a guide of inspiration for all the tangle artists. It can be usefull too for artists who creates nem tangles, as a source of information about similar images already draw by another person.

My intention here is to collect ready patterns all drawn by me, I´ll keep this as a personal project, as I practice and learn new tangles so It will be a work in process project. I do not intent to collect step-by-steps, althought the majority of the images can link to the website where I found the tutorials for my drawings. If you want your link to be removed from my site, just email me at mafe.mavromati@gmail.com. I do not intent to collect doodle patterns either.

If your create new tangles and want your designs in the Mosaic send me the links for your tutorials. I´ll try to update this Mosaic every week with new designs. The updates will be announced here in my blog.
